Potholes
I’ve received a number of emails and calls regarding the state of our roads locally, which is completely understandable as they are in a poor state.
Obviously the flooding and cold weather does not help, but thats the reality of winter. Ultimately, we need a long-term solution, rather than the current patchwork approach.
Over recent weeks I have reported potholes on Model Village and Portland Avenue in Creswell, Cliff Hill and Tesco/Aldi Roundabout in Clowne, Princess Avenue in South Normanton, Marlpit Lane Crossroads and Town End in Bolsover, Alder Way in Shirebrook, Hawthorne Road in Pinxton and Station Road in Pilsley.
As you can hopefully appreciate I cannot see every pothole in the constituency. So please report potholes or resurfacing requests directly to the Council online via their website: https://my.derbyshire.gov.uk or via https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/.../potholes/potholes.aspx
If you have already reported an issue and it hasn’t been fixed then please email on
[email protected] with your reference number, so that I can make enquiries on your behalf.
The Prime Minister recently announced a fund of £2.2 billion allocated from HS2 savings for the Midlands to fix potholes. I very much welcomed this announcement, and I will be making further representations to the Cllr Charlotte Cupit, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Derbyshire County Council, to ensure our constituency receives its fair share of investment.
I know this is frustrating (I drive the roads as well) so rest assured I will continue do all I can to help improve the situation in the short-term and work towards building a more sustainable model.
