Last week I asked the Department for Transport to work with me to deliver plans to improve junction 28 of the M1 following over 300 local residents signing a petition in support of the proposals.
The Minister confirmed ‘that National Highways has commenced a further study to assess the long-term future of junction 28 of the M1 to consider how planned growth may affect current and proposed schemes.’.
Alongside the petition, I have included questions on Junction 28 within my local ‘South Normanton Priorities Survey’, which is being delivered to every household in the town. With feedback on congestion and road safety being used to help support the case for improvements.
I very much welcome the response from the Minister, which is another step towards delivering an essential infrastructure project for the constituency.
These proposed improvements will have a massive impact on the lives of thousands of residents living in South Normanton and Pinxton, whilst helping to turbocharge our local economy.
