Bolsover has amazing potential. It is at the heart of the Bolsover District and sits within 20 minutes of key cultural and historical sites like Hardwick Hall, Creswell Crags, Sutton Scarsdale Hall, Pleasley Pit, and surrounded by beautiful rural countryside with excellent walking and cycle routes.
Bolsover Town centre offers amazing independent shops, a thriving arts scene, plentiful public parking, beautiful heritage buildings, a welcoming community all within easy access from the M1.
But the town has long punched below its weight due to a lack of coherence in the layout of the town centre, a limited night-time economy, and a distinct lack of connection with its main asset, Bolsover Castle.
I am working with Bolsover District Council and the Department for Levelling-Up to secure funding for the regeneration of the town centre including public realm improvements, repurposing of abandoned buildings, greater accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists, more community spaces, and new recreation/leisure facilities.
