** PUBLIC SECTOR PAY AWARDS UPDATE **
The Government has announced they have accepted the independent pay review bodies recommendation for public sector staff in full.
This includes;
7% uplift for police and prison officers
6% for doctors (plus a £1,250 bonus)
6.5% for teachers (fully funded)
5% for our armed forces (plus a £1k bonus)
These increases will be funded without additional borrowing, through greater efficiency and prioritisation, and an increase on the immigration health surcharge. We don't want to add more pressure on inflation, which the Government remain absolutely committed to reducing.
The Teaching Unions have already agreed to suspend all school strikes with immediate effect and the Prime Minister has urged other union leaders to accept the outcome of the independent pay process.
