Following a Ministerial Statement by Victoria Atkins MP, Minister for Afghan Resettlement, I was pleased to have opportunity to reinforce my view that we need to crack down on illegal immigration routes, particularly the small boats. The UK has a very proud history of accepting people who are in very great need and we do have many legal and safe routes to come and live in this country. The Minister agreed with me that the legislation (Nationality and Borders Bill) that is currently in the House of Lords is vital in that fight.
