Today Mark visited Pleasley Pit as part of his day to highlight the potential of Bolsover’s tourism industry.
During his visit to what is one of Bolsover’s premium tourism destinations, Mark met Nev and Walt to look around the brilliant ex-coal mine.
Pleasley pit is one of Bolsover’s main tourism destinations, although many from outside of the immediate area don’t know about this hidden gem which is hidden away in the village. Mark visited the site to see the great work that those such as Nev and Walt are doing in managing the site.
Recent investment has included construction of a purpose built café and kitchen, as well as having other rooms for education and schools visits. Pleasley Pit makes for a brilliant day out for families and local history enthusiasts alike.
Commenting on the visit, Mark commented:
“It’s been great to come and visit Pleasley Pit today to see the brilliant work that they’ve been doing to develop the site.
“The main engine room is a cathedral to engineering and a great monument to the proud mining heritage that helped to build the communities throughout the Bolsover constituency.
“I’d like to thank Nev, Walt and Mick for taking the time to show me round the site. Their knowledge of the site is second to none and I love their passion for bringing our heritage to life.”
