Mark Fletcher visited Dave Straw & Sons Butchers last week to hear directly about how they have managed to go plastic free.
Dave Straw & Sons Butchers have been awarded the title of the first plastic-free Heroes of Shirebrook and Mark was proud to visit them and hear about how they have changed their business to make this crucial change. Dave Straw & Sons Butchers are a leading example to local and national businesses of the changes we can and should make as the UK heads towards hosting COP26 and Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050.

“I was very pleased to be able to visit Dave Straw & Sons Butchers and it was incredibly positive to hear about the changes they have made to their business.
They have thought of so many aspects of their business, from the kinds of packaging used right through biodegradable trays for takeaway cobs and only buying teabags that are plastic-free. All this has been done without compromising on the quality of their produce, of which I was sure to stock up on when I visited!
I'd like to say a massive thank you to them for the work that they've done to minimise their impact on the environment. As we become more aware of our impact on the environment it's important that we all do our bit to reduce our plastic use.”
