Mark Fletcher spoke last week with representatives of BT Openreach regarding the installation of local fibre-optic broadband in the Bolsover constituency.
Mark has confirmed that BT Openreach are rolling out the installation of fibre-optic broadband in the Whitwell and Creswell areas as part of the next stage of their operation.
Mark said
“I know that this will be welcome news as a number of residents in new build estates have been in touch with me regarding poor broadband. This is just one of the steps I've taken to ensure that constituents get the broadband they need – I recently spoke to Digital Derbyshire who noted that developers were not laying the correct infrastructure and Bolsover District Council have also agreed that they will start to hold developers to account.”
Mark has also had conversations with colleagues and Ministers, including writing to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick, to raise residents’ concerns about broadband infrastructure. Mark will continue to fight for improved broadband to Bolsover and the East Midlands as part of the Government’s continued commitment to levelling up infrastructure in the Midlands and the North.
