Mark Fletcher today wrote to several of our Parish Councils to make them aware of the Government’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme.
The scheme is due to continue throughout the 2021-22 financial year, which means that our parish councils can contact and work with Bolsover District Council to potentially get some residential charge points installed.
The introduction of this scheme comes after the Government brought forward plans to stop the sale of new Petrol or Diesel vehicles to 2030 as part of a focus on achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050. The focus on a green economic recovery as we bounce back from the Covid-19 pandemic and continue levelling up the Midlands and the North will include many similar measures to back renewable technologies. This scheme will offer our Parish Councils the chance to work with Bolsover District Council on producing proposals to install electric vehicle charging points.
Mark said
“This is an excellent chance to bring the green revolution to our towns and villages and I would encourage you to get in touch with you parish council if you would like to see this scheme rolled out in your area.”
Mark has been actively campaigning for green technologies and industries to be at the heart of Government plans for both levelling up and recovering from the effects of Covid-19. By bringing more skilled jobs and green jobs in these emerging technologies to Bolsover, Mark wants to provide greater opportunities for constituents and for investment in to our constituency to become a leading area in modern, renewable, skilled industries.
