Happy World Book Day
It is so important that we all do what we can to encourage and help the young people in our constituency develop a love for reading.
I absolutely love visiting schools across our constituency and seeing the enthusiasm and curiosity that books ignite in our children. I look forward to hearing about the fantastic events and costumes that children, parents and teachers have prepared to celebrate World Book Day this year.
A couple of weeks ago I spent a fantastic evening at Bolsover School watching their brilliant production of 'Matilda', based on one of the most loved books by Roald Dahl. It was great to see the characters being brought to life and the young peoples enthusiasm was inspiring.
So today I encourage parents, teachers, and community members to share your love of books. Share your favourite childhood book ( The book I most remember from school is 'Heard it in the Playground' by Allan Ahlberg, a great collection of poems we used to read out in middle school all the time ) and try to spend some quality time reading with the children in your life.
