Words cannot currently express how sad I am about Sir David Amess’s passing.
As has been stated by so many, he was a wonderful and kind man. Someone I’ve known for many years, someone who I’ve campaigned with, laughed with and who brought joy to any room he was in.
David represented the seat where my in-laws live. I know his patch and how hard he worked there. My thoughts are with David’s family at this time, but also to all the residents of Southend who have lost a true champion.
Friday was a desperately sad day for our democracy.
