The current levels of illegal immigration into the UK are utterly unacceptable and unfair to the hard-working, law-abiding citizens that have to pay the price for this selfish crime.
The UK has a long and proud history of supporting those who genuinely need support; we showed this through our open arms for the genuine victims of war in Ukraine and Afghanistan, but the recent rise in economic migrants abusing our modern slavery laws to enter this country illegally must come to an immediate end.
The Government has implemented various policies that will end illegal immigration into the UK. This includes:
- The signing of the Rwanda Migration and Economic Development Partnership, allowing asylum seekers to be deported to Rwanda to make their claim
- A further immigration deal with France to put British police on French beaches for the first time
- A new return deal with Albania to fast-track the removal of those abusing our modern slavery laws
- A new Bill to be passed in 2023 ensuring those who are denied asylum in the UK have no right to return to the UK
- Ending the use of expensive hotels to house asylum seekers
- An Albanian Migrant Task Force to clear the backlog of migrants awaiting processing
- Restarting weekly deportation flights as soon as legally possible and continuing to issue notices of intent for those eligible for deportation
I know that this is an issue that is of utmost importance to my constituents. While I am proud of what the Government is doing to fix the asylum system, it is clear that more needs to be done and I will be working closely with the Government to ensure that this happens.
Please be assured that I will continue to fight for the necessary changes to end the abuse of our asylum system. I am proud to represent a party that is serious about tackling this issue and I will continue to be a vocal supporter of this crucial matter.
