Today the Chancellor announced his 2021 Budget and Spending Review. Here are 5 key announcements;
1. Biggest capital investment in the NHS since 2010
2. National Living Wage rising by 6.6% to £9.50
3. Biggest schools funding boost in a decade
4. Business rates cut by a minimum of 50% for leisure, retail, and hospitality sector
5. Fuel and alcohol duties cut
The Budget also included cutting the Universal Credit Taper Rate from 63p to 55p and increasing work allowances by £500 per year to help working families with the cost of living, £20 billion for research and development, extended tax relief for museums and gallaries, funding for 300 new youth clubs and 8000 sports pitches, £3.8 billion to invest in skills & adult education, and £150 billion more investment across every Govt department by 2024.
This is a Budget which invests in a more innovative, high-skill economy, delivers world-class public services, backs business, helps working families with the cost of living – and levels up every part of the United Kingdom.
