On Friday I visited Park House Primary School in Lower Pilsley. Education is one of my main passions and I'm always delighted to find a school with such considerate, engaged and enthusiastic children. It was a special non uniform day where the children took in some chocolate to add to their Easter raffle prizes. I got a sneak peak at the collection and wow... there will be some amazing prizes so enter if you can!
The Headteacher, Mrs Kavanagh, showed me around and we had a good chat about some of the issues the school is facing, particularly with traffic and parking outside the school. I will enquire with Derbyshire County Council whether there is anything further can be put in place to help address the problems.
Many villages and schools across the Bolsover constituency were built before cars were quite so prevalent, and many of the schools I visit experience similar problems, particularly around drop off and pick up times. I understand it's not always possible to walk your child to school, but I do encourage it wherever possible.
