2.3 million people in England and Wales experienced domestic abuse in the last year. Today I spent some time with some of those who run and co-ordinate services across Derbyshire, from Derbyshire County Council, Bolsover District Council, The Elm Foundation and The Willow Project. They work extremely hard to support victims and their families, from the Derbyshire Domestic Abuse Helpline, providing emergency and refuge accommodation, counselling services, outreach, perpetrator programmes, childrens services, education and early prevention. I was humbled to meet some of those who work with vicitims and perpetrators daily, hear their experiences and passion for the difference they make to peoples lives. My thanks to Alison, Emily, Helen, Sharon, Reece and everyone else who took the time to speak with me today and for everything you do to change peoples lives.
If you, or someone who know, is ever in need of support, please don't hesitate to contact the helpline on 08000 198 668. One call could change a life. https://www.derbyshiredomesticabusehelpline.co.uk/
