Mark Fletcher MP has asked residents to get behind local businesses and producers over the course of the next two weeks and spend in local shops where possible.
The Totally Locally National Fiver Fest has been joined by a number of businesses in Bolsover town centre this year to celebrate our amazing highstreets.
Mark is calling on residents throughout the Bolsover constituency to put £5 of their weekly spend into supporting local businesses instead of at larger companies such as the super market.
If every adult within the constituency spent just £5 per week in local independent shops, it would generate £2.3 million per year going directly into small businesses and the local economy.
Commenting Mark said:
“We have some amazing shops in Bolsover town centre and throughout the rest of our town centres in the constituency. Whether you’re in Bolsover, Shirebrook, South Normanton or Clowne, there are lots of special independent shops in our town centres.
I’d encourage as many people to spend some of their weekly shopping budget in our local independent shops and make a difference to our local high street and economy.
There are 32 brilliant local businesses that have signed up to the scheme throughout the constituency so far and I would encourage residents to visit them as much as possible.”
The initiative encourages businesses to get creative with their offers and promotions, offering different deals for just a fiver.
