Yesterday Mark Fletcher welcomed the announcement of the Government’s new Kickstart Scheme, which will create high-quality, government-subsidised jobs for 16-24-year-olds across the UK.
The Government’s new Kickstart Scheme will commit £2 billion to create hundreds of thousands of new, fully subsidised jobs for young people across the country. The 6-month placements are open to those aged 16-24 who are claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment and will be available across a range of different sectors in England, Scotland and Wales from November.
Mark said
“The Kickstart scheme is a brilliant initiative that will make a real difference for young people in Bolsover. This isn’t just about kickstarting our country’s economy – it is an opportunity to kickstart the careers of thousands of young people who could otherwise be left behind as a result of the pandemic. The scheme will open the door to a brighter future for a new generation and ensure the UK bounces back stronger as a country.”
Since his election Mark has been clear in his prioritisation of greater employment and education opportunities for young people across Bolsover. This has become even more vital as the Covid-19 pandemic has significantly affected our economy, but Mark has been pleased to see the Kickstart Scheme showing the Government prioritising young people and jobs as part of their plans to bounce back and continue levelling up.
