Mark Fletcher today welcomed the decision of the Government to ban Huawei from the British Telecommunications Network.
Mark fully supports the Government’s decision on Huawei and was pleased to hear that the Chinese Communist Party will not and must not have a foothold in British infrastructure. In the debate on UK Telecoms Mark took the opportunity to ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport how this decision will affect plans to improving rural networks across Derbyshire, and the Minister responded that it would not.
Mark said
“This decision was a matter of national security and I am glad Huawei will not be involved in our telecoms infrastructure. We will now be able to work with our allies to produce a safer 5G network in the U.K. I am also delighted that this decision, as well as protecting our national security, will not impact the delivery of super-fast broadband across the Bolsover Constituency.”
Mark has campaigned for improved provision of superfast broadband and greater phone signal in rural areas across Bolsover as part of the Government’s efforts for levelling up. Later this year Mark plans on publishing a broadband survey for residents, to help highlight the areas most effected by poor broadband service, so that action can be taken.
