On Thursday Mark Fletcher had a call with Angie Smithson from Chesterfield Royal Hospital with Parliamentary Colleague Lee Rowley MP.
On Thursday Mark spoke with the Royal Hospital’s Chief Exec Angie Smithson to receive an update regarding the current situation at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Angie shared the positive news that the Royal Hospital currently had no cases of COVID at the time of the meeting.
The staff at the Royal are currently working through a build up of surgeries and procedures and are looking to catch up with the list of outstanding patients requiring treatment. The vaccine programme is also making a huge difference to the number and severity of cases the hospital has had to deal with. However, there are still some concerns about the rapid local spread of the Delta variant with a number of staff self-isolating.
Mark commented:
“I’m really pleased to see that things are slowly getting back to normal at the Royal and that there are currently no patients with COVID at the hospital.
“The news that the vaccine programme is working and making a real difference to the number and severity of the cases is really encouraging and I’d encourage anyone else that hasn’t had a vaccine yet to get out there and have one.
“As always I’d like to thank Angie for taking the time to update me, as well as all the marvellous staff at the Royal for their continued hard work.”
