This morning I spoke with Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Hayley Barnett about the local policing situation during this difficult time.
I stressed to her how grateful we are for all the police are doing at this incredibly difficult time, and how appreciative I am to her and her team for their work. As always, the police are putting their service to their country first, even at a time of heightened risk.
We discussed the adherence to the distancing guidelines across the Bolsover constituency, particularly given the better weather we are experiencing. There continue to be some issues with groups of young people in Shirebrook, but on the whole the vast majority of the public are doing a fantastic job. Please continue to do all you have been doing to stay home, as ultimately this is the safest way of ensuring you do not catch or spread this awful virus.
One additional issue that remains an ongoing concern is the use of footpaths through farms. I have received correspondence from some very worried farmers who are either themselves in a vulnerable group or who are shielding a family member who is. I would like to ask those who have been using footpaths in and around farms to please be considerate of those living nearby.
Ch. Supt Barnett and I have agreed to keep each other regularly updated, so if there is anything you would like to be raised, please do contact me at: [email protected]
