Mark Fletcher has confirmed today that Bolsover, along with the rest of Derbyshire, is one of many areas that the Government have placed in to Tier 3.
This means that the strictest Covid-19 restrictions will be imposed across the constituency as a response to Bolsover’s high case rates in an attempt t control the pandemic.
Tier 3 is the most restrictive of the new revised tiers. Key changes from the previous national lockdown to be aware of include: Retail shops and non-essential businesses can re-open – including beauty salons and hairdressers; You may leave the house for more than just essential trips for food, essentials and medicines; Leisure centres and gyms may re-open, although you must not mix indoors with other households; You may meet others from another household in some outdoor locations – such as public gardens or parks; Hospitality venues should remain closed; Overnight stays and travel into other areas is banned.

“I’m disappointed that we aren’t able to be in a lower tier as I know how hard the last couple of weeks have been for those in the hospitality sector, as well as those with businesses that have had to close down. However, this announcement isn’t unexpected, and we need to all keep following the rules to make sure that cases in our area continue to fall so that we have the chance to move into a lower tier. We have improved on where we were a few weeks ago, but case rates do remain high.
I remain in constant conversation with local public healthcare officials and officials at the Department for Health and have continued to raise concerns from those constituents with businesses that have been heavily impacted by the restrictions. I know that many of you will have questions and concerns about what these restrictions mean for you. If you would like any help, please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected]”
The Government has introduced the new tiers system to combat the clear rise in Covid-19 cases over the past few weeks. The Tier system is intended to allow those in areas of low infection to avoid unnecessary restrictions while those areas with higher case rates take measures to get those numbers back under control. The Tiers system is a more flexible alternative to another national lockdown, similar to that which we experienced in the Spring.
