Mark Fletcher today attended a meeting with colleagues in Westminster to discuss Green Enterprise Zones and their impact on Bolsover and the East Midlands.
As part of the Government’s ongoing plans to prioritise our environment, which includes chairing COP26 later this year and legislative commitments to achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050, there will be a big focus on sustainable technology and emerging green industries as the UK seeks to build back better from the Covid-19 pandemic. Mark is strongly campaigning for Bolsover and the East Midlands to be at the forefront of any investment in these areas, bringing skilled jobs and green industries to our area.
Mark said
“Today in Westminster I attended a meeting about Green Enterprise Zones. I’m incredibly excited about the potential that Green Enterprise Zones could have for areas like ours. A GEZ would be transformative for our communities. As we come out of the Covid pandemic, it will be essential that we explore all ways to bring jobs to Bolsover. I think that a Green Enterprise Zone will help to boost the local economy and bring a new generation of skilled jobs to our area.”
Mark will continue to campaign in Parliament in conversations with Ministers and questions in the House to lobby for Bolsover and the East Midlands to be at the forefront of the Government’s green economic recovery. Today’s meeting on Green Enterprise Zones is another step towards securing new investment and jobs in our constituency that protect the future of our planet too.
