Mark has spoken out in support of the Government’s latest crackdown on County Lines drug gangs.
In the last week, brave frontline police officers run operations to arrest 1,100 people and seize nearly 300 weapons when targeting the criminal activities of County Lines drug gangs.
The operations come following a drive by the Government and police, working together over the last two years to get tough on drug gangs to protect communities and young people from the violence and harm of the illegal drugs market.
The Government has backed the police force with an additional funding of £65 million to tackle this kind of crime and over the course of the past week, 1,100 people have been arrested with over 1,100 vulnerable people and children being safeguarded as part of the operations.
Commenting Mark said:
“Our police have done an amazing job over the course of the last couple of years, and over the course of the last week particular in targeting drug gangs and making our streets safer.
I know that residents are concerned about drugs and the associated crime that is often attached to the industry. I’m really pleased to see the Government and police working together so well on this issue.
Making our streets a safer place is one of my commitments to residents of the Bolsover constituency, and that includes cracking down on drug gangs and crime wherever we might encounter it.”
