Ahead of this year’s Remembrance Sunday, we mark 100 years of the Royal British Legion. The RBL is a fantastic organisation that does an incredible amount of work to support our veterans across the country and honour the fallen.
This year the House of Commons is working with the RBL to install a Constituency Garden of Remembrance in Parliament to recognise the sacrifice of those men and women who gave everything to defend our way of life and protect our freedoms from all 650 parliamentary constituencies.
I will be planting a tribute in this garden on behalf of Bolsover, and I would like to invite all in the constituency to get in touch with the stories of those individuals, organisations or communities that came together during such extraordinary times. During the First World War nearly every family across the country was affected in some way; it will be an immense privilege to honour these local heroes in Parliament. I will also be sharing nominations and stories on my website and social media in the run up to Remembrance Sunday.
Please get in touch with me at [email protected] by the 5th of November if you would like a chance to have your story, or that of family member, told in Parliament’s commemorations.
