Last week the Chancellor announced that spending on health services will increase from £133 billion at the start of the Parliament to over £177 billion by the end – an increase of over £44 billion. We will deliver 40 new hospitals, 70 hospital upgrades, 100 community diagnostic centres, 50,000 more nurses, 50 million primary care appointments, record investment in R&D, obesity programmes, end mental health dormitories and invest significant capital in operating theatres to help catch up on elective backlogs.
We are already seeing the benefits of this investment with a £24 million new Urgent and Emergency Care Development at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and a new Community Diagnostic Centre at Kings Mill Hospital, as well as the £9 million investment into the Bassetlaw Trust announced last year for residents in the North East of the constituency.
Additionally, Derbyshire Healthcare NHS trust has been successful in securing significant national funding, to improve the facilities from which they offer acute mental health services for adults living across Derbyshire. This includes Development at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital site - A new 54 bedded facility with single rooms, across three wards, with flexibility to support men, women and non-binary patients on the Chesterfield Royal Hospital site, this will replace the Hartington Unit, currently based on the same site.
